Carriage-wheel Workshop
In order to expand the product range, in 2005, the Ocher Machine-Building Plant ("OMZ" OAO) established the "Carriage-wheel Workshop".
The plant underwent all the necessary procedures and obtained the right to carry out all types of repair of wheelpairs of freight cars РУ1Ш-957-Г and РУ1-957-Г; "OMZ" OAO brand mark – 1278.
Works on the wheelpair repair are provided according to the Repair and Maintenance of Wheelpairs with Axle Boxes of Freight Cars of Main-line Railways with Axle Track of 1520(1524) mm Guideline, approved by the Council for Railway Transport of the Commonwealth Member States by the Protocol of October 19-20, No. 67 (РД ВНИИЖТ 27.05.01-2017).
SONK wheelpairs are produced at "OMZ" OAO.
The Carriage-wheel Workshop total area is about 3,000 sq. m. About 100 people are involved in the work of the Carriage-wheel Workshop: these are receiving inspectors, production foremen, team leaders, rolling stock repairmen, turners, pressers, electric and gas welders, and others. The workshop is equipped with modern equipment for the repair of wheelpairs: a mechanized section for the dismantling and cleaning of wheelpairs, semiautomatic welders for build-up welding wearing journal boxes, vertical mills for milling journal boxes to print dimensions after their restoration by build-up welding, car-wheel lathes with computerized numerical control for turning the wheel thread, vertical turning machines with software control for boring webs of wheels, an axle rolling machine, presses for pressing webs of wheels in and off, and an installation site with a cold pressing bench for labyrinth and inner rings. Bearings are repaired in the bearing section and controlled with ROBOKON precision instruments. Input and output inspection of the condition of the axle boxes is performed on automatic computerized vibration monitoring equipment. The shop is equipped with all the necessary control measuring tools. All the tools and equipment undergo regular metrological evaluation.
The Non-destructive Testing Laboratory, certified by the Expert Organization for the Certification of Non-destructive Testing Laboratories (NK-Tsentr, a branch of the Research Institute of Bridges) under the Federal Railway Transport Agency, directly participates in the work of the carriage-wheel workshop. The laboratory is certified for non-destructive testing of wheelpairs, parts and units of freight cars with ultrasonic, magnetic particle and eddy current testing methods.
The carriage-wheel workshop production facilities allow to repair more than 1200 wheelpairs per month with high quality.
